Scootch's Story
Scootch arrived at the APA as a sweet, gentle dog who clearly wanted nothing more than to be loved. During his medical exam, our veterinary team discovered he had multiple broken teeth and a large opening connecting his mouth to his nasal cavity. X-rays revealed metal fragments lodged in his muzzle, leading our team to believe Scootch had likely been shot with a pellet or bullet when he was still a puppy.
Despite everything he had endured, Scootch never stopped wagging his tail.
He simply needed someone willing to say, "We're here."
The APA immediately assembled a plan with a specialized dental surgeon. His first surgery has already been completed, and a second reconstructive procedure will help him eat, breathe, and live comfortably for the rest of his life.
His foster family decided they can't imagine life without him and has made that love official through adoption.
