Dr_Garcia

Angela Garcia, DVM

Director of Veterinary Services

Dr. Garcia is excited to join the APA team after feeling drawn to make a difference in the lives of shelter animals and the community. A Missouri native, she graduated from Mizzou’s College of Veterinary Medicine and spent time in small animal private practice in the St. Louis area prior. Her areas of professional interest include preventative/wellness care and dermatology. She enjoys spending time with family, friends, her pets, and traveling in her free time.

Dr. Caroline Lenczowski

Caroline Lenczowski, DVM

Dr. Lenczowski joined the APA after looking for a position focused on community wellness and shelter medicine. She’s a graduate of the top-ranked veterinary program at Purdue University and enjoys staying busy with her family, farm, and many animals when she’s not at the APA.

Kris Clements, DVM

Staff surgeon and calico cat aficionado Dr. Clements performs spay and neuter services for our outgoing animals. She graduated with her DVM from the University of Illinois and provides surgery at the shelter twice a week. Dr. Clements is an integral part of our commitment to finding homes for pets, including the two calico cats she adopted from the APA — Cora and Willow.

Sandy Angus, DVM

Dr. Angus graduated from the University of Missouri of Veterinary Medicine. She was in private practice for several years before finding her passion in working for non-profit facilities. Dr. Angus recently joined the APA team in providing wellness care for the community. When she is not working, Dr. Angus has a life full of activity! She enjoys hiking camping, kayaking, dance, and traveling. She also has two small dogs of her own that are her sweet little travelers!

Pet Owner Support Programs

Wellness Extends Beyond the Clinic

We don’t wait for people and pets to come to us. As part of our mission, we actively reach out to the community and lend our support.

Safe Care

St. Louis’ first animal assistance program provides temporary care for the pets of those experiencing domestic violence, so every family member can get to safety.

Pet Partners

Our door-to-door community service helps people and pets stay together in vulnerable communities. We provide needed resources, like food and vaccines, while raising awareness of free spay and neuter services.

Heads-to-Tails Hope Fund

A needs-based financial assistance program for veterinary care, made possible by generous APA donors.

Crisis Housing

Our recently expanded crisis housing program gives pets a safe place to live while their owners contend with housing instability.

Your Donation Makes An Impact

Beyond adoption, there are many ways to help people and pets bring out the best in each other. A gift to the APA enables us to give second (and sometimes third or fourth) chances to deserving pets.
