We build long, healthy relationships
Wellness starts with bringing home a healthy pet, and continues with ongoing support and guidance. Beyond adoption, we provide additional services and outreach to help you and your pet lead fulfilling lives.
Virtual Waiting Room
Our Clinic, On Your Phone
No one likes to spend time in a waiting room, especially if your pet’s not feeling well. With QLess Waiting, you can check in from your phone, then come to the clinic when the veterinarian’s ready.
The QLess system will send you text message updates, let you know your place in line, and notify you when it’s time to head to the clinic.
QLess opens at 9AM daily. Sign in closes once capacity has been reached.

Jennifer Marquardt, DVM
Director of Veterinary Services
Dr. Marquardt graduated from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine before working in private practice in Chicago and the St. Louis area. She joined our veterinary team in 2017 to provide wellness care for the community and enjoys spending time with her family, two dogs, and cat. In addition to her family travels, she also enjoys metal sculpting and jewelry making.

Denise Dietsch, DVM
Dr. Dietsch has been an integral part of the APA’s veterinary team for 20 years. A graduate of the University of Missouri Veterinary College, she brings over 40 years of experience and immeasurable passion to our mission. She is a proud mother who spends her time remodeling, collecting vintage clothing, and raising her two dogs.

Caroline Lenczowski, DVM
Dr. Lenczowski joined the APA after looking for a position focused on community wellness and shelter medicine. She’s a graduate of the top-ranked veterinary program at Purdue University and enjoys staying busy with her family, farm, and many animals when she’s not at the APA.
Kris Clements, DVM
Staff surgeon and calico cat aficionado Dr. Clements performs spay and neuter services for our outgoing animals. She graduated with her DVM from the University of Illinois and provides surgery at the shelter twice a week. Dr. Clements is an integral part of our commitment to finding homes for pets, including the two calico cats she adopted from the APA — Cora and Willow.
Pet Owner Support Programs
Wellness Extends Beyond the Clinic
We don’t wait for people and pets to come to us. As part of our mission, we actively reach out to the community and lend our support.
Your Donation Makes An Impact
Beyond adoption, there are many ways to help people and pets bring out the best in each other. A gift to the APA enables us to give second (and sometimes third or fourth) chances to deserving pets.
