January: Month in Review
January 2023 was a successful month for both APA Olivette and APA Brentwood. In January, we started a new Facebook APA Lost & Found Page to help reunite more pets with people.
Our return-to-owner rate between both locations was 43%. At Olivette, our return-to-owner rate was 45% compared to the previous rate of 30% before we started operations on December 5. In January, 91 pets were returned to their owners. We can attribute this to the APA’s active scanning and tracing of microchips and posting photos on the APA Lost & Found Facebook Page. We encourage you to follow and share the Page!
Together, we helped 504 pets find wonderful homes. Our transfer program helped 278 pets get a second chance at adoption, and 116 pets were cared for in foster homes, helping us make space for all who needed us.

Our Outreach program had a record month with 1,624 pounds of food distributed to pets throughout the community. The Wellness Clinic at Brentwood saw 355 patients, and between both locations and our Outreach programming, we completed 459 spay/neuter surgeries. Read our full report of the month of January below.
Compared to last year, our adoptions have increased; however, the intake numbers continue to grow. Our priority is to ensure pets in our community have a safe place to go. How can you help? We are in need of fosters and more volunteers at both locations. Click here to get involved.
