Ways to Donate

Frankly, we can't do this without you

Each year, your support and contributions enable us to save more than 4,000 deserving pets, so that when all other doors close, ours remain open to help animals get their second chance.

In those efforts, we’re proud to report The APA has received four stars from Charity Navigator — their highest rating — for our dedication to transparency and the responsible use of resources. If you’d like outside input as you determine which causes to support, we invite you to view our online profiles from these reputable third-party aggregators.

We make it easy to make a difference with multiple ways to support our mission.

One-Time Donation

Anonymously or with appropriate fanfare, we appreciate the gesture and make your donation easy. Prefer PayPal? No problem.

Monthly Giving

Sustain your commitment throughout the year with an automatic, monthly donation. This budget-friendly program helps pets in need and can make you feel great throughout the year. We accept PayPal, too.

Our Pet Project

Help us serve more animals, better, by renovating our home, giving our kennels, clinic and even our nursery some long-overdue love.

Centennial Sponsorship

We're 100! Sponsoring our centennial celebration puts your organization at the center of the cutest party in town.

Planned & Estate Giving

Leave a legacy of kindness and compassion for homeless pets that extends beyond your lifetime.

Tribute Gifts

Celebrate an occasion or honor the memory of a person or pet. Make a contribution or order a tag in memory of your pet.

1922 Society

In honor of the year of our founding, we celebrate those who make an annual gift of $1,000 or more with a commemorative pin, special events and unique access to our programs and leadership. Learn more about this special giving circle.

Sponsorships

Leave your mark on our mission by putting a name on specific events, facilities, or amenities.

Workplace Gifts

Double your impact by combining your gift with an employer match. Ask HR, or simply add your employer in the donation form, and we will check our records. If you would like to participate in our match program as an employer, simply email us to get the process started.

ORGANIZE A FOOD DONATION DRIVE

Our outreach program supplies food pantries in north St. Louis County with pet food. Help support this program by organizing a food drive with Purina pet food. Interested? Email us for help on coordination.

Supplies

There’s always a shortlist of items that help us keep things running smoothly. Please check out our online wish list or peruse the one we update on Chewy. Your generosity is the real gift.

Vehicles

If you have an old vehicle taking up space, or have a plan to trade one in, donating your car to the APA can help animals, no matter its condition.

Host Your Own Fundraiser

Host your own event, like a carwash, golf tournament, or bake sale, and donate funds raised to the APA.

Gifts of Stock

Invest in the APA’s mission with a gift of stock, mutual funds, or other appreciated securities.

IRA Charitable Rollovers

Donating directly from an IRA can help you save on income tax and benefit pets cared for at the APA.

Donor-Advised Funds

With a donor-advised fund (DAF), your charitable dollars can help pets cared for at the APA and provide favorable tax benefits.

We couldn't do this without our volunteers

From individuals to groups, we offer a wide array of volunteering opportunities. Check out some of the structured programs we’ve built, or share your ideas on how to lend a hand.

College Internships

Get real world experience in non-profit operations. Browse upcoming internship opportunities, and submit your application and resume for a chance to join our team.

Community Events

Looking to get involved, but don't have the time to be a regular volunteer? Join us for our weekly pack walks or take a dog out on a doggy date!

Corporate Service Groups

Build your team by adding to ours. Bring a group of 4-10 people from your organization or office for a day of service. Service days are 3-4 hours in length.

Court-Ordered Community Service

Second chances are important here. We accept court-ordered community service at a minimum of 40 hours, excluding drug, theft and violent offenses.

Be the Bridge

As wonderful as our facility is, some circumstances call for the special comforts of home—even if it’s temporary.

Fostering allows us to create more space for pets, and the APA provides all food and supplies to our generous hosts. Litter, pee pads, food, leashes, you name it, we have you covered.

There’s no obligation to place the pets yourself, so when its time for adoption, they’ll come back to our adoption center. And if at any time, you need support, we are ready to jump in.

Young Friends & Old Friends

COMMUNITIES OF CARING

Animals can introduce us to new things, ideas, activities — and even new people. In recognition, we’ve established two vibrant groups that support our work, the Young Friends of the APA and Old Friends of the APA.

Both are comprised of dedicated volunteers who work together to further our mission, while enjoying annual membership benefits, including networking opportunities and savings on APA signature events.
