Ways to Donate

Frankly, we can't do this without you

Each year, your support and contributions enable us to save more than 8,000 deserving pets, so that when all other doors close, ours remain open to help animals get their second chance.

In those efforts, we’re proud to report the APA has received four stars from Charity Navigator — their highest rating — for our dedication to transparency and the responsible use of resources. If you’d like outside input as you determine which causes to support, we invite you to view our online profiles from these reputable third-party aggregators.

We make it easy to make a difference with multiple ways to support our mission.

One-Time Donation

Anonymously or with appropriate fanfare, we appreciate the gesture and make your donation easy. Prefer PayPal or Venmo? No problem.

Monthly Giving

Sustain your commitment throughout the year with an automatic, monthly donation. This budget-friendly program helps pets in need and can make you feel great throughout the year. We accept PayPal, too.

Matching Gifts

Did you know that thousands of companies match donations made by their employees to organizations like ours? Please click here to see if your company will match your gift.

1922 Society

In honor of the year of our founding, we celebrate those who make an annual gift of $1,000 or more with a commemorative pin, special events and unique access to our programs and leadership. Learn more about this special giving circle.

Donor-Advised Funds

With a donor-advised fund (DAF), your charitable dollars can help pets cared for at the APA and provide favorable tax benefits.

Gifts of Stock

Invest in the APA’s mission with a gift of stock, mutual funds, or other appreciated securities.

IRA Charitable Rollovers

Donating directly from an IRA can help you save on income tax and benefit pets cared for at the APA.

We couldn't do this without our volunteers

From individuals to groups, we offer a wide array of volunteering opportunities. Check out some of the structured programs we’ve built, or share your ideas on how to lend a hand.

Adoption Center opportunities begin at 16 years old.

Adoption Center Volunteer

The APA offers multiple ways to serve the community and local animals. We encourage applicants to view our open opportunities, then fill out an online application.

Teen Volunteer Opportunities

If you’re 14 or older, serving the community could earn school credit.

Children Under 16

Younger kids can still help our mission outside the adoption center, and earn service hours, by making beds, toys, and scarves. Click here for kid friendly projects.

College Internships

Get real world experience in non-profit operations. Browse upcoming internship opportunities, and submit your application and resume for a chance to join our team.

One-Time Volunteer Opportunities

Looking to get involved, but don't have the time to be a regular volunteer?

Corporate Service Groups

Build your team by adding to ours. Bring a group of 4-10 people from your organization or office for a day of service. Service days are 3-4 hours in length.

Court-Ordered Community Service

Second chances are important here. We accept court-ordered community service at a minimum of 40 hours, excluding drug, theft and violent offenses.

Be the Bridge

As wonderful as our facility is, some circumstances call for the special comforts of home—even if it’s temporary.

Fostering allows us to create more space for pets, and the APA provides all food and supplies to our generous hosts. Litter, pee pads, food, leashes, you name it, we have you covered.

There’s no obligation to place the pets yourself, so when its time for adoption, they’ll come back to our adoption center. And if at any time, you need support, we are ready to jump in.

Young Friends & Old Friends

Animals can introduce us to new things, ideas, activities — and even new people. In recognition, we’ve established two vibrant groups that support our work, the Young Friends of the APA and Old Friends of the APA.

Both are comprised of dedicated volunteers who work together to further our mission, while enjoying annual membership benefits, including networking opportunities and savings on APA signature events.

For Businesses

You're in Good Company

At the APA, your business can benefit local animals. We offer multiple opportunities to get involved, either hands-on or financially, through our sponsorship and service group programs.

Our partners are major supporters whose generous contributions are vital to sustaining and expanding our mission. They invest in the long-term success of our programs, helping us make a lasting impact in the community.

Sponsors provide targeted support for specific events, facilities, or initiatives, playing a key role in enabling us to deliver specialized services and host community-engaging events. Their contributions are crucial to the specific projects they choose to fund.

Corporate Volunteer Opportunities

Build your team by adding to ours. Bring a group of people from your organization or office to volunteer at one of our locations. Opportunities range from 2-4 hours in length.

Adopt A Dog Cutout

Help the APA promote pet adoption by adopting a dog cutout to be displayed in your place of business.

Pop-up Playdates

Reserve a group of puppies, kittens, or adult pets for a one-hour playdate at your workplace.
