Domestic Violence and Pets
With more people being confined to their homes, it is expected that domestic violence rates will increase. Most domestic violence shelters do not allow pets and boarding facilities can be expensive, creating a barrier for individuals wanting to leave a violent relationship. The APA’s SafeCare program alleviates this barrier by providing emergency foster care at no cost to the individual. To learn more about this program and how to get help, visit our Safe Care page.
