APA Olivette Now Open to the Public

As of December 5, the Animal Protective Association of Missouri (APA) has officially begun operations at the St. Louis County Pet Adoption Center facility located at 10521 Baur Blvd. in Olivette. The APA was selected after competitive application and review process initiated by St. Louis County. The APA will still operate its flagship location on Hanley Road in Brentwood, in addition to running operations at the Olivette shelter.

On December 5, the team of experts at the APA began operating by ensuring every animal in the facility received the necessary assessments, vaccines and medical care, as well as ample walks and enrichment opportunities. APA Olivette will open to the public this afternoon, December 6, at 2pm. There are nearly 60 available pets looking for their forever homes.

Adoption fees for all pets 6 months and older at APA Olivette and APA Brentwood are $25 as part of the BISSELL Pet Foundation’s national Empty the Shelters event.

The APA Olivette will mirror the same look and feel as the APA Brentwood in the coming days, weeks, and months. However, for now, the focus is on the direct care of the pets and finding them wonderful homes.

With 100 years of animal welfare experience and expertise, the APA will extend its specialized programs that promote adoption and wellness of pets, as well as support pet owners and help keep pets in the homes of the people who love them. Since Jan. 1, 2022, the APA has completed 4,826 adoptions, a record number of adoptions in one year.

“While we are walking into a challenging situation that will require quite a bit of work to correct, we know we have a great team to make it happen,” said Sarah Javier, president and CEO of the APA. “I look forward to seeing the impact our 100 years of expertise will have on pets throughout the community. We appreciate the public’s patience and support during this lengthy process,” said Sarah Javier, president and CEO of the APA.
