APA Launches Urgent Appeal to Support 541 Pets in Need Across Both Locations

The APA is issuing an urgent call for assistance as APA Olivette grapples with a significant surge in animals requiring care. In the wake of a recent neglect case, which brought in 28 pets in one day, the organization is presently caring for 541 animals across both locations and in foster homes.

“We are facing an unprecedented number of animals in need of help, hope, and a second chance at a better life,” said Sarah Javier, CEO & President of APA. “Our team is working tirelessly to provide these animals with the care and love they deserve, but we urgently need the support of our community to continue our mission.”

The organization is appealing to the public for assistance in the following ways:

  • Adopt: All adoption fees for dogs over 40lbs are being waived at APA Olivette through Sunday.
  • Foster: Provide a temporary respite to a dog, giving them a break from the shelter environment. The APA ensures all necessary provisions are provided including medical care.
  • Trial Adoption: Consider a two-week trial run to see how a dog fits into your home. Should it not be an ideal match, the dog can be returned.
  • Volunteer: APA Olivette is seeking volunteers, particularly dog walkers, to assist with the care of the animals.

“Our goal is to provide these animals with the care they need and deserve, and we cannot do it without the support of our community,” added Javier. “Every adoption, foster placement, volunteer hour, and share on social media makes a difference in the lives of these animals.”
