APA Adoption Center to Expand Access to Pet Services at New North St. Louis County Site

The Animal Protective Association of Missouri (APA) announced today the purchase of a property in North St. Louis County, a major step toward expanding access to animal welfare services in one of the region’s most underserved areas. The site, located at 11755 Benham Road, will become home to APA North, a new facility designed to provide convenient pet adoptions, veterinary care, community programs, and pet-owner support services for families in North County and surrounding areas.

This milestone paves the way for construction to begin in early 2026. The project will be completed in two phases, with the first phase being completed in 2027. Phase one will include a veterinary and wellness clinic, spay/neuter, adoptions, and pet owner support programs.

“This new campus will allow us to better serve families and pets across North St. Louis County and surrounding areas,” said Sarah Javier, President and CEO of the APA. “Expanding services to North County has been a strategic goal for the APA since 2017, and we couldn’t be more excited about moving forward with this project. Our new campus represents a long-term investment in access, equity, and support for pet owners who have too often gone without nearby, affordable resources. This project brings those services closer to home and strengthens the human-animal bond throughout the community.”

Once completed, the campus will include a full-service adoption center, veterinary clinic, high-volume spay/neuter services, education and outreach space, and critical community-based support to help keep pets in their homes. Thousands of pets and people are expected to be served each year.
