A thorough, but simple process

Need a running buddy? We have her! Need a couch potato? We have him, too! We can help you find the right companion, right now. We connect people and pets based on shared sensibilities, like lifestyle and energy, so every relationship begins with a solid foundation. 

When you visit the APA, one of our experienced adoption counselors will learn about your preferences and help you find a furry sidekick. Getting started only requires an ID, a form of payment, and an open heart. Together, we can find a new roommate the same day you visit. 

All cats, kittens, and pocket pets are required to go home in a secure carrier to ensure they travel safely. Feel free to bring your own, or you can purchase one here when you adopt—cardboard carriers are $5, and plastic carriers are $30.

Adoption Fees

Your fee provides for more

Our average cost to care for an animal is $500, and some require much more. Your adoption fee is one additional reason to feel great about bringing home a new family member. Our variable pricing structure allows the pets that find homes quickly to cover those who stay with us longer or require a little more help getting back on their paws.

Our fees also include special discounts for senior citizens, as well as active duty military and veterans.

  • Cats

    $125 - variable pricing may apply

    Working cats fees are waived.

  • Kittens

    $175 - variable pricing may apply
    Adopt 2 kittens for $300

  • Dogs

    $100-600

    Adoption fees waived for dogs 30+ pounds and 5 months and older every Tuesday. Please note, some pets may be excluded from this promotion.

  • Puppies

    $300-600

  • Small Animals & Birds

    $30 – variable pricing may apply

Up-to-date vaccinations and de-worming

Heartworm test and up-to-date preventative for dogs
