Take Home a Lifetime of Love and Happiness
Considering adoption? Good choice! Careful placement of pets is one of our primary missions. Check out the animals currently available for adoption!
We update our listings hourly throughout the day. If you'd like to make sure a certain dog or cat is still here, you may call us with the animal's name and ID number. However, we do not confirm adoptions or "hold" pets by phone.
The Adoption Process
When you visit the APA Adoption Center, you’ll find many wonderful dogs, cats and small animals waiting to find a new home. Our friendly and knowledgeable adoption counselors can help find the right pet for you. Each year we help over 3,000 people welcome a new pet to their family. The APA provides valuable care and treatment to all animals in our care. Some come to us injured or sick and require an extraordinary amount of medical care. Variable adoption pricing allows us to continue to do more to meet each animal’s individual needs. Having a higher adoption fee for some animals, who will find a home quickly, enables us to care for animals in need of lifesaving medical intervention. Our variable pricing also helps us to provide excellent care and enrichment for animals who reside in our adoption center for a longer stay. For more information, please contact the APA’s adoption desk at 314.645.4610 ext. 113.
We provide the following for each adopted pet:
- Spay/neuter surgery
- Microchip identification
- Preliminary vaccinations and worming
- Heartworm test and preventative for dogs
- Feline leukemia test for cats
- Advantage Multi® flea and heartworm preventative
- Two-week wellness coverage
- Collar and leash
We have discounted rates for senior citizens (60 and over) who adopt and special discounts when you adopt an older pet.
